Furthermore, Studio Allegory is situated in a neighbourhood that is historically and presently inhabited by those who are left out and pushed towards the edges of society with homelessness and substance use problems. We are not closing our eyes and instead of being a part of the problem, we are working on ways to being part of the community in a caring and helping way.

What We Do

  • That work starts simply with respect and the intention to help on multiple levels.
  • We have naloxone on site and we show our regulars how to use it and urge people to carry a kit.
  • We build ties with the community by attending meetings and being helpful in day to day life.
  • We educate participants new to the neighbourhood and refute any concerns based on prejudices and clichés.
  • We donate and ask participants to do that, too.

Donations

Parts of our proceeds go to organizations we believe make a difference, such as

We donate parts of ongoing proceeds very couple months, depending on how much is left. We also organize regularly events that are dedicated as fundraisers such as clothing swaps, community discussions, and specific workshops. Keep an eye open for the fundraiser detail in our events.

We also donate items such as clothing, toiletry articles, art supplies and more when we get them. Please contact us before you want to drop off items for donations since storage is very limited at the Studio.

How You Can Help

The easiest way to help is to come to the studio for our regular events and especially those that are dedicated as fundraisers.
But you can also help by letting us know about other organizations that are working in the DTES or for First Nations’ rights and reconciliation.
